GHOST STORIES BOOK CLUB: The Bone Key by Sarah Monette

March 10 @ 7:00 pm EDT

Let’s talk about chillingly good books. If we’re lucky, we might even be joined by a spectral visitor or two.

We meet at 7 pm on the second Tuesday of each month. For this year’s full lineup, visit https://vintagecottageantiques.com/ghost-stories-book-club.

This Month’s Book: The Bone Key by Sarah Monette

Kyle Murchison Booth is the unlikeliest of characters to gain a cult following, yet he has. Eccentric, socially awkward Booth is an introverted museum archivist, descended from a most unusual family, who frequently finds himself in the midst of the most unsettling supernatural experiences and strange necromantic mysteries. A gentleman and a scholar, the unwilling hero persevered through The Bone Key, a series of interconnected short stories, to win readers’ hearts (and possibly their souls). This new edition, with a “puzzle” cover and a new introduction by one of Booth’s “successors” at the Samuel Mather Parrington Museum, will delight current fans and allow even more to discover its dark charms.

What to Expect

After a round of introductions, we’ll discuss the book. We also like to talk about movies and TV shows based on the books we read — so if you don’t have time to read the book, it’s okay to come with a Netflix review, too.

Reserve your spot early; space is limited. Please note that we do need at least 3 participants, so encourage your friends to come, too! We’ll confirm each meeting by noon that day. Check our Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates.

Price

Admission is $5, and the price includes refreshments. We usually order a cheese or pepperoni pizza and open a bottle of red wine. Let us know ahead of time if you want a vegetarian option.

Location

The Vintage Cottage is easy to find. We’re located at 612 West New York Avenue, six blocks west of main street, between Stone Street and Orange Avenue. There’s plenty of parking, both in front and in back.
